Frankel newcomer Left Sea has trainer mulling Group 1 options after easy victory

Earlier this month it had been the turn of Kelina and Rajapour to showcase huge potential in running out eyecatching winners of their newcomer contests on debut at Deauville, and on Thursday it was Left Sea who similarly bobbed to the surface.

The two-year-old daughter of Frankel, out of Dubawi's Prix Vermeille-winning daughter Left Hand, was one of seven to contest the Prix de la Reboursiere over nine furlongs.

She came home decisively clear of her rivals after making virtually all under Maxime Guyon in the famous blue and white Wertheimer silks for the Carlos Laffon-Parias yard, quickening in the straight to go clear with one or two other promising sorts in her wake.

The winning trainer, who also handles Prix des Marettes winner Kelina, said: "She's shown herself to be a good filly. I'd have preferred her to have been covered up a bit in behind horses but Maxime respected her.

"The two fillies could have been ready for the Marettes but there was never a question of running them both in the same race."

He added: "They are both entered in the Prix Marcel Boussac and there is also the Fillies' Mile at Newmarket."

Left Sea is her dam's second foal and is a sister to Gaucher, likewise a winner in France over nine furlongs.

Left Hand, who is out of Singspiel's daughter Balladeuse, aside from her exploits on the track, can boast of being a half-sister to both Group-placed juvenile winner Romanciere and the Listed winner Bilissie.

Balladeuse, in turn, is a half-sister to Grand Prix de Saint-Cloud winner Plumania.
