Frankel claims leading Royal Ascot sire honours with three winners

Banstead Manor Stud's Frankel came out on top in a diverse sires table for Royal Ascot in 2021, with three winners bolstered by two seconds and a third place.

The dual world champion was responsible for an opening day double courtesy of Wolferton Stakes scorer Juan Elcano and then a one-two in the Copper Horse Stakes with Amtiyaz and Dubious Affair.

Juddmonte's leading sire was also provided with Wednesday's Hampton Court Stakes scorer Mohaafeth - a poignant winner for the late Sheikh Hamdan's Shadwell operation - while he was also responsible for two further placed runners in Coronation Stakes runner-up Snow Lantern and Queen Alexandra Stakes third The Grand Visir.

The redoubtable Dark Angel finished in the runner-up spot with three winners and a third place in another excellent week for Yeomanstown Stud's stalwart sire.

Berkshire Shadow opened the son of Acclamation's account in the Coventry Stakes. His win was backed up by Indie Angel and Real World in the Duke of Cambridge Stakes and Royal Hunt Cup on the second day, while Art Power took third in the Diamond Jubilee Stakes.

Dubawi came through to take third spot ahead of exciting sire son Night Of Thunder with Queen's Vase scorer Kemari and Jersey Stakes winner Creative Force providing Darley's flagbearer with a brace of successes.

His three places came courtesy of Jersey runner-up Naval Crown, Sandringham Stakes second Samoot and Britannia Stakes third Quintillus.

Night Of Thunder was represented by two winners in handicap scorers Lola Showgirl and Highfield Princess, while his Global Storm was also third in the Copper Horse Stakes on the opening day of the meeting.

Mayson, who stands for just £4,000 at Cheveley Park Stud, was among exclusive company with a Royal Ascot double courtesy of King's Stand Stakes hero Oxted and the rapidly progressive Wokingham Stakes winner Rohaan.

First-season sires Ardad and Profitable were among the 28 stallions who supplied a Royal Ascot winner, with the former represented by Norfolk Stakes scorer Perfect Power and Coventry third Vintage Clarets, while the latter struck with Queen Mary Stakes heroine Quick Suzy.

Honours were shared in the damsire standings, with daughters of Acclamation and Pivotal both supplying three winners and one runner-up apiece.

The 21-year-old Acclamation, who is still going strong at Rathbarry Stud, was represented as the damsire of Britannia winner Perotto, Chesham Stakes scorer Point Lonsdale, and the aforementioned Rohaan, while Point Lonsdale's brother Broome was runner-up in the Hardwicke Stakes.

Broodmare sire extraordinaire Pivotal's daughters were responsible for Prince Of Wales's Stakes heroine Love, Queen's Vase victor Kemari and the unbeaten Sandrine who won the Albany Stakes, a race in which Pivotal notched a one-two as broodmare sire with runner-up Hello You.
