The debut crop of Coolmore's Anglo-Irish 2,000 Guineas hero Gleneagles have been going down a storm in the sales rings of Europe, with a colt out of Lady Eclair topping the Goffs UK Premier Yearling Sale when bought by Alastair Donald for £380,000, and a half-sister to Intellogent fetching €400,000 from Gatewood Bell and Cheyenne Stables at Arqana.

Two colts by the son of Galileo are entered in the September Sale, including this offering from Ballylinch Stud, who was bred by the China Horse Club after the international operation purchased the dam, One Chance, with the colt in utero for 380,000gns.

The daughter of Invincible Spirit was a smart juvenile, winning a maiden on her second outing before finishing third to Rizeena in the Group 2 Queen Mary Stakes. She produced a career-best performance on Racing Post Ratings aged four, when fourth in the Group 3 Summer Stakes.

Ballylinch Stud managing director John O'Connor: "He's a real powerhouse. He's not very tall but he's very, very strong and looks extremely precocious, as you'd expect being the first foal of a Queen Mary placed mare.

"He's a good mover and has lots of muscle. He's ben very easy to prep - he's a natural and I'd be surprised if we don't see him early on next year. He looks like he could be one to get Gleneagles off to a good start."

Golden Horn - Simonetta (Lil's Boy)

The September Sale contains just one yearling from the debut crop of brilliant Derby and Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe winner Golden Horn, and the filly in question's pedigree has received a significant upgrade since the catalogue's publication.

The filly is out of Jim Bolger's Simonetta, a Listed-placed half-sister to the Group 3-winning Danelissima. Simonetta is also a half-sister to the Group 3-placed Daneleta.

Daneleta is better known as the dam of Dewhurst Stakes winner Intense Focus and Dane Street, who is herself the dam of Skitter Scatter - last seen winning the Moyglare Stud Stakes in impressive fashion.

The filly was pinhooked for just €55,000 when acquired at the Goffs November Foal Sale by BBA Ireland, a price that could look a bargain, as Golden Horn's first yearlings have fetched as much as €205,000 this year.

Simmonstown Stud's Neil McGrath: "She's a good, attractive, long-walking filly - she'd steal your eye with the way she walks. She eats and sleeps and does everything you want her to do. She's never given us a moment's bother and has been very straightforward. I wish they were all like that!

"She's had a fair few looks already and having Skitter Scatter do so well has really reignited the family. It's a family I've known for about 40 years, it goes back to a great filly in Fanghorn and throws up winners everywhere."

Sea The Stars - Star Mon Amie (Monsun)

Sea The Stars has been responsible for one of the season's most exciting talents in the Arc-bound Sea Of Class, and the stallion will be represented by two daughters in the September Sale.

Mount Coote Stud will offer the filly out of Star Mon Amie, who was bred by Sunderland Holdings, the banner under which Ling Tsui's family races and breeds.

The youngster shares her page with a host of talented German performers such as Quelle Amore and Que Belle, while the Sea The Stars-Monsun cross has produced three winners from four runners, notably German Derby hero Sea The Moon and the Group 3-winning stayer Raheen House, as well as taking juvenile scorer Waldstern.

Mount Coote's Luke Lillingston: "She's a racy filly and not as big as a typical Sea The Stars, but she's correct and quite feminine. Needless to say Mrs Tsui has a group of them so we had to spread them out a bit, and because this filly doesn't have a big first dam we thought we'd bring her here.

"We've done well with one or two Sea The Stars at this sale before so hopefully she'll be popular too. Sea The Stars is an amazing stallion."

Lot 257

Dark Angel - Bear Cheek (Kodiac)
Yeomanstown Stud

This filly is from the ninth crop of Dark Angel and was conceived the year that his fee rose to €60,000. She is the first foal out of Bear Cheek, a daughter of Kodiac who raced four times, winning a Naas maiden on debut before landing the Group 3 Curragh Stakes.

She also finished a close fourth to Dark Angel's son Gutaifan in the Group 2 Flying Childers Stakes on her penultimate outing.

Dark Angel has proved to be a fine sire of fillies, with his daughters headed by the Group 1 winners Mecca's Angel, who won back-to-back renewals of the Nunthorpe Stakes, and Persuasive, who brought the curtain down on her racing career by beating Ribchester by a length in the Queen Elizabeth II Stakes.

Yeomanstown Stud's David O'Callaghan: "She's a lovely filly and is very sharp, just like her mother - she's a carbon copy of her dam and looks like a real Kodiac. She's very correct and a good walker so fingers crossed she'll prove to be as quick as she looks.

"She has a great mind and is very easy to deal with. She loves work and loves food. She's been well liked since she got here. All those good Dark Angel fillies have something about them and she has something about her too. She has a great attitude, she puts her head down and looks through the bridle well and just wants to go."
