Five foals who could make headlines at Goffs November Foal & Breeding Stock Sale
Siblings to Lucky Vega, Terebellum and Arizona feature in the four-day sale
The first three days of the Goffs November Foal and Breeding Stock Sale are devoted to this year's crop of new arrivals. Here we pick out five lots to keep an eye on during what promises to be a high-quality sale.
Lot 659
b f No Nay Never - Lady Ederle (English Channel)
Consigned by Ballintry Stud
No Nay Never has made a bright start to his stud career and this filly's pedigree suggests she will have plenty of talent as well as residual value once her racing days are done.
Out of the English Channel mare Lady Ederle, she is a full-sister to last year's Coventry winner and Coolmore's new Castlehyde Stud sire Arizona, plus the Grade 2-winning Nay Lady Nay.
Both her siblings have been placed in Grade/Group 1 contests too, while her second dam - Bright Generation - won the Italian Oaks and was second in the Moyglare Stud Stakes. In short, this is a filly with outstanding credentials on the racetrack and as a broodmare prospect further down the line.
Lot 673
b f Frankel - Marvada (Elusive City)
Consigned by Swordlestown Little
Another filly from an outstanding family, this youngster is a half-sister to this year's Dahlia Stakes winner and Queen Anne runner-up Terebellum and from the family of Premio Lydia Tesio scorer Sound Of Freedom.
Out of the Group 3-winning Marvada, a daughter of Elusive City, Swordlestown Little's filly can also count Prix Morny victor Charge D'Affaires and Premio Ellington winner Secret Haunt among her relations further back in her page.
Her Invincible Spirit half-sister Miss Finland won on her second start for John Gosden earlier this month to add further lustre to the pedigree, while suggesting there is every chance of further updates next year.
Lot 685
b c Frankel - Noyelles (Docksider)
Consigned by Neilstown Stud
Hailing from a family that includes Bellarida - the dam of In Clover who was responsible for George Strawbridge's Group 1 stars Call The Wind, With You and We Are - this colt has a beautiful pedigree and is a half-brother to two stakes winners himself.
Lily's Angel struck in the Chartwell Stakes and was second in the Matron Stakes, while Zurigha was a Listed winner and was placed twice in Group 2 company. It would not be a surprise if Neilstown Stud's son of Frankel fetched a sum befitting his blue-blooded pedigree.
Lot 707
b c Footstepsinthesand - Queen Of Carthage (Cape Cross)
Consigned by Baroda Stud
Baroda Stud's son of Footstepsinthesand looks certain to be on many a shortlist as he is a half-brother to none other than this year's Phoenix Stakes scorer Lucky Vega.
The March foal hails from a family with plenty of Group 1 black type besides his illustrious sibling, as his second dam, Satwa Queen, struck in the Prix de l'Opera and Prix Jean Romanet and is herself related to Criterium de Saint-Cloud scorer Spadoun.
Aside from Queen Of Carthage, Satwa Queen has also produced the stakes-winning Oasis Dream filly Important Time.
Queen Of Carthage was unraced but has also produced the winning Lady Clair, fourth in the Lowther Stakes and the dam of a Bobby's Kitten colt who is consigned as lot 427. The daughter of Canford Cliffs is due to visit Frankel next year.
Lot 750
b c Make Believe - Uncharted Haven (Turtle Island)
Consigned by Ballylinch Stud
Make Believe's Group 1 triumph courtesy of Mishriff propelled him into breeders' imaginations and this well-bred colt has the pedigree to suggest he too could be a Classic prospect in time.
Out of the dual Grade 2 winner Uncharted Haven, Ballylinch Stud's foal is a half-brother to High Heeled, winner of the St Simon Stakes and placed in the Oaks and Coronation Cup, plus Faraday Light, the dam of the ill-fated Irish 1,000 Guineas heroine Just The Judge.
The February foal boasts a developing page as High Heeled has produced the stakes-winning Dubawi filly Pabouche, while Just The Judge has produced three offspring, including a yearling Galileo filly before her untimely death last year.
