Tally-Ho Stud resident and Qipco 2,000 Guineas winner Galileo Gold is the latest first-season sire to be represented by his first runner, in his case in the form of Robbie Roger at Southwell on Sunday.

The George Boughey-trained colt was bred by Tally-Ho and is the fourth foal of out of the Medicean mare Mediska - herself a half-sister to the Listed-winning Lightscameraction.

Owned by Amo Racing, the juvenile is a half-brother to three-time winner Inviolable Spirit. Robbie Roger was withdrawn from the Goffs UK Breeze-Up Sale later this month.

Galileo Gold, who was bred by Brian O'Rourke and was a €33,000 purchase by Amanda Skiffington from Donnellys Well at the Tattersalls Ireland September Yearling Sale, was a triple winner at two, including in the Vintage Stakes at Goodwood, and rounded off his campaign with a third in the Prix Jean-Luc Lagardere.

The son of Paco Boy went on to land the 2,000 Guineas in the colours of Al Shaqab Racing and followed up with victory in the St James's Palace Stakes at Royal Ascot. He was also second to Awtaad and The Gurkha in the Irish 2,000 Guineas and Sussex Stakes.

Out of the Luca Cumani-trained Galileo mare Galicuix, Galileo Gold's family has remained in the headlines as his Kingman half-brother sold to Oliver St Lawrence for 2,700,000gns at last year's Tattersalls Book 1, when consigned by Houghton Bloodstock. He will be trained by Roger Varian.

Having been retired to Tally-Ho after a run in the Lockinge Stakes at four, Galileo Gold currently stands for a fee of €5,000 and has a first crop of 110 to represent him this term.

The eight-year-old is a 25-1 chance to claim first-season sire honours in Britain and Ireland.
