The first mare covered by Overbury Stud newcomer Le Brivido has been scanned in foal.

The broodmare in question – Espionne – is a notable one, as she is a five-year-old George Vancouver half-sister to Grade 1-winning hurdler Petite Parisienne who won at Chantilly, and is owned by Thierry de La Heronniere of Haras d'Ellon.

De La Heronniere bred one of the early stars by Le Brivido's exciting sire Siyouni, the Prix Sandringham winner and Prix de Diane third Volta.

He is also the joint-owner and breeder of Siyouni's three-year-old daughter Sea Watch, a Classic entry who won her second start at Chantilly on Tuesday.

“I'm a big fan of Siyouni – he really is one of the very best stallions – and Le Brivido is all Siyouni," said de La Heronniere, who has invested in a breeding right in Le Brivido.

“I'm impressed by him, and I think he can be just as successful as his sire.

“I've also done well with Overbury Stud – I sent a mare to Cityscape and produced the three-year-old filly Avenue De France, who has had two races for two wins.”

Jersey Stakes winner and Poule d'Essai des Poulains runner-up Le Brivido stands at Overbury Stud at £7,000, with 50 per cent of the fee returnable if the mare produces a filly.
