Authentic's dam, carrying a full-sibling to Breeders' Classic hero, up for sale
Fasig-Tipton's November Sale starts at 2pm local time on Sunday
Fasig-Tipton now has 288 entries catalogued for its November Sale, up from the original 264, which begins at 2pm local time on Sunday, the most recent of which is none other than Flawless, dam of Breeders' Cup Classic winner Authentic and carrying a full-sibling to boot.
“The Fasig-Tipton November Sale has become an important event in the industry, showcasing the best of our sport in an electric atmosphere,” said Fasig-Tipton president Boyd Browning.
“We are pleased to have once again assembled a very special catalogue to present to buyers the afternoon and evening following the Breeders’ Cup.”
Speaking before additions, he continued: “The sale will begin with 159 selected weanlings, our largest group in recent memory. We will then move into a deep collection of racing and broodmare prospects and in foal mares. Forty-five graded stakes winners or producers are catalogued, 24 of which are Grade 1 winners, Grade 1 producers, or champions.”
Recent additions, added this week and catalogued as hips 286 and 287, were an Into Mischief-Greenfield D'Oro colt weanling, to be consigned by Bluewater Sales, and Wasp, a three-year-old daughter of Triple Crown hero American Pharoah who recently broke her maiden at Belmont by more than ten lengths on October 30. She will be consigned as a racing/broodmare prospect by Claiborne Farm.
An even later addition was Flawless, dam of Saturday’s Breeders’ Cup Classic winner and Kentucky Derby winner Authentic.
Catalogued as hip 288, she will be consigned by Bridie Harrison, agent for Peter E Blum Thoroughbreds.
Flawless is in foal to Into Mischief, so carrying a full-sibling to Authentic.
“Flawless is an exciting late addition to our November Sale,” said Browning. “Authentic is just the fourth horse ever to win the Kentucky Derby and Breeders’ Cup Classic in the same year, and she is carrying his full sibling.
"To be able to add a mare of Flawless’s qualifications to our sale on the eve of the auction is unprecedented and provides buyers with one of the more unique buying opportunities in recent memory.”
The catalogue can be viewed online, and internet and phone bidding will be available.
