Three colts from the final crop of Scat Daddy were among the highlights of Tuesday's Goffs UK Breeze-Up Sale catalogue, and with the much-missed stallion's progeny in high demand the world over at present, his draft duly returned some flashy prices.

The first offering by Scat Daddy went the way of agent Stephen Hillen, who parted with £110,000 for the colt out of the Listed-winning Elnadim mare Come To Heel offered by Willie Browne's Mocklershill.

"I've seen him at Willie Browne's a couple of times this winter," said Hillen of the colt bred by Lynch Bages and Longfield. "He's been on my mind a lot since then. Like a lot of the Scat Daddys, he has quite a big stride and he galloped well.

"I bought another Scat Daddy, Glendevon - who's since been sold onto Cheveley Park Stud - last year and this horse reminded me of him. I didn't think he was expensive, especially because the stallion is on fire. He'll be trained by Richard Hughes for Jaber Abdullah."

The second Scat Daddy through the ring is bound for Richard Fahey's Musley Bank stables, after senior assistant trainer Robin O'Ryan bought the Lynn Lodge Stud-consigned colt for £95,000.

"We've not had a Scat Daddy before so he's a new sire for us," said O'Ryan, who secured the juvenile on behalf of a new owner to the yard.

"He's a great mover with a good outlook and he's got a good pedigree. We've been lucky buying from Lynn Lodge in the past, we've bought Third Time Lucky, Donjuan Triumphant and Andok from them.

Scat Daddy has captured the imagination of European horsemen thanks in no small part to the Royal Ascot two-year-old success of the likes of Lady Aurelia, No Nay Never and Sioux Nation. However, O'Ryan did not expect this colt to have him reaching for his top hat this year.

"A big horse like him will be one for the second half of the season," he said.

The colt, the first foal out of the winner Tale Of The Cat mare Gimlet Witha Twist, was pinhooked by Mags O'Toole for $85,000 at the Keeneland September Yearling Sale.

The third and final Scat Daddy through the ring, a Canadian-bred offered by Mocklershill, was the sale's priciest pinhook, but became the day's most expensive buyback when failing to sell at £185,000.

The colt was purchased for $220,000 through Hunter Valley Farm as a yearling.
