A son of powerhouse French stallion Doctor Dino took leading honours at the Arqana Lumet Show on Saturday when bought for €70,000 by jumps trainer Davide Satalia.

Offered, like all the catalogue, by David Lumet's Ecurie de la Ridaudiere, the two-year-old named Krill Du Large is out of an unraced half-sister to multiple Graded winner Princesse Kap, from the family of dual Grand Steeple-Chase de Paris winner Docteur De Ballon.

It was the tenth renewal of the event organised by Lumet and staged at Becon-les-Granits, which sees pre-trained young National Hunt prospects shown in action before being sold.

Trade showed an uptick in every metric from the 2021 show, with 45 of the 58 selling at a clearance rate of 78 per cent, at an average of €18,622 (from €15,425 last year), median of €13,000 (from €12,500) and aggregate of €838,000 (from €617,000).

The Doctor Dino only just passed the total achieved by the highest-priced filly, a daughter of Great Pretender who is a half-sister to Paul Nicholls' smart hurdler-chaser Le Prezien. She was bought for €65,000 by Trotting Bloodstock.

Following the sale, Arqana president Eric Hoyeau said: "The professionalism of David Lumet and his teams allowed once again the perfect organisation of the sale.

"The percentage of horses sold is a real source of satisfaction and the good profiles were well valued, as shown by the two top prices of the day.

"A large majority of the horses that passed through the ring will continue their careers in France, which is the main objective of this session."

He added: "As far as the day's proceedings are concerned, filming the horses over jumps before the sale and presenting them only cantering on the day of the sale seems to be the ideal formula.”
