It is unlikely that few viewed Elmaamul as a potential source of serious jumps talent over the course of his unremarkable stud career.

Winner of the Eclipse Stakes for Major Dick Hern, he was useful during his tenure as an outlying and inexpensive Shadwell stallion but what success he did enjoy came on the Flat, as would be expected for a son of Diesis.

Yet here he is today, his legacy living on through a son and grandson - Muhtathir and Doctor Dino - who have pulled off that rare achievement of attaining respect under both codes.
