Deutsches Derby hero Palladium among initial Arqana Arc Sale entries
This year's Deutsches Derby winner Palladium features among the first 38 horses catalogued for Arqana's Arc Sale next month.
Taking place at Saint-Cloud racecourse after the first day of Longchamp's Qatar Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe meeting on Saturday, October 1, the 2024 catalogue already features a number of high-class performers.
They are headed by Liberty Racing's Palladium (lot 34), a neck winner of the German Classic at Hamburg in July. The son of Gleneagles is a half-brother to stakes scorer Panjari and out of the black type-winning Anabaa mare Path Wind, also a neck second in the Group 1 Premio Lydia Tesio.
Other notable entries include this month's Group 3 Prix Gerald de Geoffre winner Columbus (17), also a winner of the Listed Prix Michel Houyvet in August. The Oasis Dream colt is out of the Group-placed Rip Van Winkle mare Cribbs Causeway and from the family of Aussie Rules, Coronet and Midas Touch.
The stakes-winning Waldora (25), who struck in the Prix Occitanie at the end of August, will be offered by Satoshi Kobayashi, while fellow Listed winner Shamarkand (31), recently third to Colombus in the Prix Gerald de Geoffre, will be consigned by owner-breeder the Aga Khan Studs.
This year's Group 2 Sparkasse Kolnbonn - 189th Union-Rennen scorer Narrativo (46), placed at the top level on his last two starts, is another attractive offering. The Adlerflug three-year-old is a half-brother to Group winner Nikkei and comes from the black-type family of Neatico.
The consistent Trafalgar Square (54), a Listed winner and Group-placed performer this season, will be consigned by trainer Patrice Cottier.
He most recently landed the valuable Arqana Series des 3 Ans at Deauville and is a Kendargent half-brother to Listed winner and Prix Marcel Boussac second Times Square. The Zarak filly was also a close third in the Poule d'Essai des Pouliches at three.
