Deep Impact's son Geniale going down a storm in Scandinavia for Decamond Racing

Decamond Racing founder Hamid Khalili has expressed his delight at how well their stallion Geniale has been received by Scandinavian breeders following his transfer there in 2020.

Geniale won twice in Japan and also took the Group 3 Prix Messidor in 2018 at the now sadly closed Maisons-Laffitte.

Bred by Shadai Farm from its multiple champion sire Deep Impact. the seven-year-old is out of the Aga Khan’s triple Group 1-winning Classic heroine Sarafina, and is a full-brother to Savarin, winner of the Group 3 Prix d’Aumale at Longchamp.

Khalili said: "Last year we transferred Geniale to Sweden and he is standing at Hallestorp Farm, managed by Annette Johansson, the CEO of Scandinavian Racehorses.

"We're really impressed by how well he's being received there; he already has 40-45 bookings, which is great for this time of year. Our estimation is that he'll become the most popular stallion in Scandinavia this year."

Khalili, who describes his primary interest as identifying stallions, broodmares and racehorses with the potential of shaping new markets and making names for themselves in the future, added: "I personally find Scandinavian racing and breeding really interesting - there are many unexposed aspects of the racing industry."

Also on Decamond's stallion book is Hot Streak, the Irish-bred son of Iffraaj who landed the Cornwallis Stakes at two for Kevin Ryan and Qatar Racing, and then finished second to stablemate Astaire in the Middle Park.

He went on to land the Temple Stakes and take third in the King's Stand Stakes at Royal Ascot, and is at Haras d'Annebault, where Khalili reports that the ten-year-old "already has a good list of bookings".

The third member of the Decamond stallion team is Red Jazz, a 14-year-old son of Johannesburg whose finest hour on the track came with victory in the Challenge Stakes.

"He will stay in Germany at Vollblutgestuet Lindenhof, as we estimated that he will do much better this year in Germany," explained Khalili.

"He got two new black-type winners last year in Urban Beat, who was already a Listed winner but won for the first time at Group level, and Jazz Explosion."
