The latest progeny to race out of 2012 Oaks heroine Was is among an intriguing cast in the Yeomanstown Stud 'Dark Angel' Irish EBF Fillies Maiden Stakes (5.25) at Fairyhouse on Wednesday.

The juvenile filly, named Concert Hall, is by Dubawi and is trained by Aidan O’Brien for the Coolmore partners.

Concert Hall is a half-sister to the full-sibling minor winners Globe Theatre and Darkness Falls, by War Front, who also raced for Ballydoyle.

Was also placed in the Pretty Polly Stakes, Yorkshire Oaks and Nassau in a highly productive career, and it will be interesting to see how her daughter fares on her debut given the six-furlong trip.

Litteratus also has Galileo as her damsire, and the daughter of Dawn Approach looks another to note on her debut for owner-breeder-trainer Jim Bolger.

As a daughter of Christinas Letter, she is a half-sister to several winners, including dual Group 3 winner Leitir Mor.

One who might rival either of the above at the head of the market is Pennine Hills, who makes her debut for the Joseph O’Brien yard. By Kodiac out of Mark Of Esteem’s daughter Milana, she is a sister to Canadian Grade 3 winner Grizzel and is likely to be quite forward for her first run for Sun Bloodstock.

Also among the nine newcomers in a field of ten is Ecoutez, who is closely related to Prix Djebel winner Surfrider.

In the maiden for three-year-olds and up - albeit every single one of them due to run is three - later on the card over seven furlongs (6.25), Shadwell homebred Tanaaghom catches the eye.

The Dermot Weld-trained filly is another by Dubawi, out of Teofilo’s daughter Adool, who Weld saddled to win the Listed Hurry Harriet Stakes in 2016.

Also having her first day at school is Bobby’s Kitten’s daughter Time To Burn, whose dam Wholesome is a winning half-sister to US stakes winner Stan The Man. She runs for Lech Racing, of Baron Samedi fame.

Over at Yarmouth, in the Quinnbetcasino Maiden Fillies’ Stakes (4.50), Tsui family homebred My Astra catches the eye.

The debutante is by Lope De Vega out of Sea The Stars’ daughter My Titania, winner of the Weld Park Stakes herself, which makes her a half-sister to her William Haggas stablemate My Oberon, winner of this year’s Earl of Sefton Stakes and last seen finishing a fair fourth behind Love in the Prince of Wales’s Stakes at Royal Ascot last month.

The Gosden yard is set to introduce not one but two homebreds in the same race. Dear Heart will carry the colours of the trainer’s wife Rachel Hood, and is by Kingman out of Iffraaj mare Lyrique and related to a few winners.

Anthony Oppenheimer’s representative Stella Maris also happens to be out of a daughter of Iffraaj, in this case Zeb Un Nisa, and is by Sea The Stars, so providing something of a link to fellow newcomer My Astra.
