Daughter of Dubawi and Seal Of Approval set for Newcastle debut on Tuesday
Royal Scandal is from the family of dual Classic hero Hurricane Lane
An exciting newcomer with one of the most eyecatching and up-to-date pedigrees around is set to make her debut at Newcastle (7.00) on Tuesday for James Fanshawe and owner-breeder Tim Vestey.
Royal Scandal is the third foal out of the high-class Authorized mare Seal Of Approval, whose career successes for Fanshawe and Vestey included the Group 1 British Champions Fillies & Mares Stakes in 2013 and the Listed Chalice Stakes at Newbury.
There is considerable strength in depth to the three-year-old's page as her dam is a half-sister to the stakes-winning Shirocco mare Gale Force, dam of last year's St Leger, Irish Derby and Grand Prix de Paris winner Hurricane Lane, who was also third in the Derby and Arc and remains in training with Charlie Appleby this term.
Gale Force, who has also produced the stakes-placed Frankel's Storm, has a three-year-old colt by Sea The Stars called Sweet William and an unnamed two-year-old Australia filly. She returned to Frankel this season.
Seal Of Approval has an unnamed two-year-old colt by Kingman.
Seal Of Approval is also related to the winning and Group 3-placed Invincible Spirit mare Instance among six winners overall. She is out of the Doctor Devious mare Hannda, a winning homebred of the Aga Khan and a half-sister to Concorde Stakes scorer Hamairi and Listed winner Hanabad.
Hannda is out of Handaza, a winning Be My Guest half-sister to Blue Wind Stakes victress and Irish and Yorkshire Oaks third Hazarista and Hazariya, the Group 3-winning dam of dual Derby hero Harzand and Hazarafa, the dam of dual Group 3 scorer Hazapour.
Royal Scandal is a sister to the winning Promissory, who was second in the March Stakes and third in the Princess Royal Muhaarar Stakes for John Gosden.
She is set to face 13 rivals in the mile and a quarter Quinnbet-sponsored maiden stakes, including Godolphin's once-raced State Event, a son of Shamardal and 1,000 Guineas, Irish and Yorkshire Oaks scorer Blue Bunting, Lizzie Jean, a daughter of Nathaniel from the family of Australian Group 1 scorer Group 1 winner Danestorm, and Liquid Metric, a Kingman colt out of a Montjeu sister to Criterium International winner and Irish Derby third Jan Vermeer.
