Daredevil returns to Lane's End from Turkey after Oaks and Preakness triumphs
The son of More Than Ready will stand on behalf of the Jockey Club of Turkey
Leading American second-season sire Daredevil will relocate to Lane's End Farm for 2021 after producing a sensational double in Preakness Stakes and Kentucky Oaks winners Swiss Skydiver and Shedaresthedevil this season.
Daredevil, a $260,000 purchase from Keeneland's September Yearling Sale in 2013 and the winner of the 2014 Champagne Stakes, was sold to the Jockey Club of Turkey last November following his first two-year-old runners, but will recommence his career in Kentucky next year.
Shedaresthedevil created an upset when winning the rearranged Kentucky Oaks last month, leading home a one-two for her sire with Swiss Skydiver in second. The runner-up readily advertised the form with a gritty win in the Preakness Stakes, defeating Kentucky Derby hero Authentic in the process.
Remarkably, Daredevil is the only first-crop stallion to sire a winner of the Kentucky Oaks and the Preakness Stakes in the same year.
Lane's End's Bill Farish told Bloodhorse.com: "Everybody was trying to figure out how to put something together that would work for the Jockey Club of Turkey, and they ultimately decided they wanted to keep the horse and stand him. We were fortunate enough to be chosen to do that.
"I would like to thank Murat Sancal for his ongoing efforts, the board members of the TJK, and especially the president, Mr Serdal Adali. This is the beginning of a very fruitful relationship with them and we are very grateful."
Farish added: "He's a very well-conformed horse. He's strongly made and very typical of his sire, More Than Ready, with great bone. For us, it's a different sire line and we are very happy to secure him. He's one of the few to be a top sire in both hemispheres."
Daredevil will arrive at Lane’s End at the end of November following quarantine and will stand for a fee of $25,000 in 2021.
