Curlin relation to Kentucky Oaks heroine Shedaresthedevil joins Qatar Racing
The filly was a $625,000 purchase from Keeneland's September Yearling Sale
Sheikh Fahad enjoyed his biggest success across the Atlantic with Shedaresthedevil's recent Kentucky Oaks triumph, and racing manager David Redvers confirmed a Curlin relation would be joining Qatar Racing's ranks after realising $625,000 at Keeneland's September Yearling Sale.
By leading US sire Curlin, the Hunter Valley Farm-consigned filly is out of the winning Congrats mare Applauding, a full-sister to Shedaresthedevil's dam Starship Warspeed, and is also a half-sister to the useful Pioneerof The Nile-sired Nolo Contesto.
Shedaresthedevil provided the biggest update possible when striking in the Kentucky Oaks earlier this month and it was an update that encouraged Sheikh Fahad to strike the winning note on the lot from Fergus Galvin and Adrian Regan's Kentucky stud.
Redvers said: "She was very strongly recommended to Sheikh Fahad by Adrian and Fergus from Hunter Valley.
"There was the obvious update in the pedigree in Shedaresthedevil, who's out of a full-sister, almost confirming the fact she was an outstanding filly for his operation and so he decided to buy her."
Shedaresthedevil, a runaway scorer of the Grade 3 Indiana Oaks on her penultimate start and the winner of five of her eight starts, is trained by Brad Cox and Redvers confirmed that the team's latest purchase is likely to head to the trainer's yard.
