Group 2 Coventry Stakes winner River Tiber has been retired and will stand at Haras de la Huderie in France, having been bought by a group of French breeders including Sebastien Desmontils, David Salabi, Guillaume and Camille Vitse, and Jean-Pierre and Guillaume Garcon.

The son of the all-conquering Wootton Bassett won his first three starts at two, headed by victory in the Coventry, while he also placed behind Vandeek in the Group 1 Prix Morny and Middle Park Stakes.

Trained by Aidan O'Brien for Coolmore, the three-year-old was also third to Rosallion in the Irish 2,000 Guineas this season.

Desmontils said: "River Tiber's arrival at stud in France is the result of a growing association of breeders who have already had success with his father.

"The Vitses produced Unquestionable. The Garcon family sold me the excellent Topgear. David Salabi and I were both shareholders in Wootton Bassett when he was in France. So it's great to be able to roll the dice again all together."

River Tiber will stand for an opening fee of €5,500 in 2025.

Beranger Bussy of Haras de la Huderie said: "We're delighted to be able to welcome River Tiber to Huderie. He's a perfect stallion for French breeders who meets all the expectations of the market while offering the possibility of generating profit with his attractive fee."

Bred by Pier House Stud, River Tiber sold to MV Magnier and White Birch Farm for 480,000gns at Book 1 of the Tattersalls October Yearling Sale in 2022.

He is the second foal out of the unraced Arcano mare Transcendence, a half-sister to dual Listed winner Mister Manannan and US black-type earner Shermeen, the dam of Group 1 Phoenix and Group 2 Railway Stakes winner Sudirman as well as Listed Dee Stakes winner Star Of India.
