Coolmore's popular young sire Sioux Nation supplies first foal
Richie Fitzgerald of Ballinasisla Stud bred the filly out of Samaden
Scat Daddy's Norfolk Stakes-winning son Sioux Nation sired his first foal on Saturday when the Listed-winning Samaden produced a bay filly for Richie Fitzgerald of Ballinasisla Stud in County Waterford.
The breeder said of the new arrival: "I'm very happy with the foal. She has class, is correct and moves well."
The filly is the seventh foal out of Samaden, a daughter of Ad Valorem who won the Listed Premio Alessandro Perrone during her own racing days. The dam has already produced three winning two-year-olds from just four runners.
Sioux Nation won four races during his time under the care of Aidan O'Brien, most notably the Group 1 Phoenix Stakes and the Group 2 Norfolk Stakes at Royal Ascot.
He went on to win the Group 3 Lacken Stakes at three, when he also finished third to Havana Grey in the Flying Five Stakes.
The imposing individual caught the eye of breeders in a big way upon his retirement to Coolmore's Castlehyde Stud in Fermoy, with his debut book of 241 mares making him the most popular new Flat recruit to stud in 2019.
He also proved popular down under, having shuttled to Adam Sangster's Swettenham Stud in Australia for the southern hemisphere covering season.
Sioux Nation will stand the 2020 breeding season at Castlehyde at an unchanged fee of €12,500.
