Colin Bowe awarded Goffs UK's Willie Stephenson Memorial Trophy
Leading point-to-point trainer has sent out the likes of Envoi Allen and Samcro
Colin Bowe has been awarded the Willie Stephenson Memorial Trophy for 2019, presented annually to the person the Goffs UK board feels has made the biggest contribution to the success of the company during that year.
The leading point-to-point trainer's graduates - which include the unbeaten Envoi Allen and dual Cheltenham Festival winner Samcro -regularly feature in Goffs UK’s Doncaster and Aintree Sales.
Papa Tango Charly was another, selling to Aidan Kennedy for a record-breaking £440,000 at last year's Aintree Sale, while Madison To Monroe realised £300,000 to Tom Malone at the auction in 2017.
The award, which commemorates the co-founder of DBS, now Goffs UK, is normally presented in Doncaster earlier in the year, but due to Covid-19 travel restrictions it was given to Bowe in his yard on Tuesday by Goffs group chief executive Henry Beeby.
Beeby said: "Colin has had a lasting impact on our sales with his point-to-pointers regularly featuring at the top of the market – a testament to his ability to consistently produce horses of the highest calibre.
"He has played a big part in the ongoing success of our Aintree Sale, having produced most of the sale-toppers including Samcro, who topped the inaugural 2016 sale and went on to become a headline horse, winning the Ballymore Novices' Hurdle at the Cheltenham Festival in 2018 and the Marsh Novices' Chase at the festival earlier this year.
“We're delighted to add Colin’s name to the list of very worthy and diverse recipients of this award and look forward to selling more of his Milestone Stables’ graduates for many years to come.”
