Once again Salisbury’s October meeting on Thursday was used as a launchpad for several smart Ralph Beckett prospects with Ten Sovereigns’ half-sister Chantilly Lace looking very much one to follow.

The trainer will consider an identical plan to the one used with the winner two years ago, Remarquee, who landed the Fred Darling Stakes at Newbury on her reappearance in 2023 and was later second to Tahiyra in the Coronation Stakes.

Chantilly Lace, by Lope De Vega, was bred by a partnership between Camas Park, Lynch Bages and Summerhill and was knocked down to Alex Elliott for 375,000gns at Tattersalls Book 1 last year. Now owned by Doreen Tabor, she is a sibling of Coolmore Stud’s stallion, who landed the  inc Middle Park Stakes and July Cup, with both being out of Godolphin's winning Exceed And Excel mare Seeking Solace.

Beckett was thrilled with her half-length success in the Pyledriver British EBF Novice Stakes over seven furlongs.

"You could see when she hit the front she was very green, pricking her ears, didn’t really know what to do," he told Racing TV. "She’s a big tall filly and you’d think she’d furnish significantly over the winter. Much to look forward to, I think.

"I think that’ll be it and we’ll see how we feel in the spring. I’d hope we might be able to get her ready for a Fred Darling or something like that. She's a sister to Ten Sovereigns, you wouldn't think she'd get more than a mile probably, we'll see."

Bluestocking, Beckett’s Group 1 winner who runs in Sunday’s Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe, had opened her account in the corresponding Byerley Stud British EBF Novice Stakes over a mile two years ago.

His Perfect Your Craft, a daughter of Mastercraftsman knocked down to Elliott for 110,000gns at Book 1, led home Whatcombe in a one-two for Valmont.

"Her most recent bit of work indicated she might do this," Beckett added. "She’s out of a Galileo mare [Pandora] and she’s a mile and a half filly in the making, probably. I was pleased with the way she went about it."
