Cheveley Park's dual Group 1 winner Ulysses set for first runner at Yarmouth
The eight-year-old has been well supported at stud by his racing owners
Cheveley Park's exciting first-season sire and dual Group 1 winner Ulysses will be represented by his first runner at Yarmouth on Friday in the seven-furlong novice contest (2.00).
The son of Galileo was a top-class performer for Sir Michael Stoute and the Niarchos family, with his career highlights coming when defeating Barney Roy in a thrilling Coral-Eclipse and when landing the Juddmonte International in fine style from that Godolphin runner and a dual Guineas hero in Churchill.
Out of the family's beloved Light Shift, an emotional winner of the Oaks for Sir Henry Cecil in 2007, the eight-year-old is bred to be a top-class sire and stands at Cheveley Park for a fee of £10,000.
Ulysses, who also won the Gordon Stakes and Gordon Richard Stakes - both Group 3 - and was second to Enable in the King George VI and Queen Elizabeth Stakes and third to Juddmonte's wondermare in the Arc, has 87 first-season juveniles to represent him this term.
The chestnut has been well supported at stud by Cheveley Park and the Niarchos family, and among his book of mares this term were Echelon, the dam of the top-class Integral, champion juvenile Hooray, dual Group 1 runners-up Heaven Sent and Starscope, plus Regal Realm, the dam of the high-class Regal Reality.
Ulysses' first runner comes in the form of Mr Alan. The George Boughey-trained colt was bred by Cheveley Park and sold to Aguiar Bloodstock from Bumble Mitchell at last year's Goffs UK Premier Yearling Sale for £92,000.
Owned by Amo Racing, Mr Alan is the seventh foal out of the winning Pivotal mare Interlace - a full-sister to dual Listed scorer Feet So Fast - and is a half-brother to four winners including Bigger And Better.
