Cheltenham Festival winner among remarkable Munir and Souede dispersal

Une Artiste one of a host of familiar names set to go under the hammer

Some of the most famous fillies and mares to have carried the two-tone green silks of Simon Munir and Isaac Souede will go under the hammer at Arqana as part of the complete dispersal of the owners' breeding stock.

Gitane Du Berlais, a winner of the Grade 1 Scilly Isles Novice Chase, will be one of 30 broodmares and fillies in training offered at the French auction house's Breeding Stock Sale in December.

Ma Filleule, a Grade 3 winner and Ryanair Chase runner-up, will also be up for grabs, as will Cheltenham Festival heroine Une Artiste, who sprung a 40-1 shock when winning the Fred Winter in 2012.

All three mares will be offered in foal to Haras de Montaigu's Martaline, sire of jumps stars such as Dynaste, Disko and Agrapart.

Among others catalogued will be the Grade 1-winning Utopie Des Bordes, while four mares in the dispersal will be offered in foal to Haras D'Etreham's champion Saint Des Saints, the sire of Djakadam among other leading National Hunt names.

Simon Munir said: "We have been very fortunate over the past few years to have had a lot of racing success with our mares and fillies, who have subsequently been retired to stud. This has resulted in the number of horses in our breeding operation and racehorses in training growing far faster than we anticipated.

"We have therefore decided to sell our broodmares to enable us to manage our bloodstock interests more effectively. It is very hard to part with these mares, especially those such as Ma Filleule, Gitane Du Berlais, Une Artiste and Utopie Des Bordes who are very close to our hearts and have given us wonderful days at the racetrack and have already produced exciting progeny that we are retaining."
