Changes to Arqana's Breeding Stock Sale to comply with new Covid rules
National Hunt broodmares and foals will be offered on November 19
Arqana has announced changes to its Breeding Stock Sale following French Prime Minister Jean Castex's extension of curfew measures to further areas of the country.
Due to increasing cases of the coronavirus in France, including Deauville, the decision was made to enforce curfew for at least six weeks, with an extra two weeks potentially on the cards.
Therefore the sale, which had been due to take place from December 5-8 and catalogued over 1,000 lots, has been changed with a new National Hunt Breeding Stock Sale taking place on Thursday, November 19 at Deauville.
The catalogue, which will be made available at the end of the week, will consist of National Hunt breeding prospects, broodmares and foals, while Flat fillies, broodmares and foals will be offered at the sale from December 5-8 during shorter, curfew-compliant sessions.
The Autumn Sale, which takes places on November 14, will not be affected by restrictions. The auction starts with a day consisting of Flat-bred yearlings followed by horses in training, stores and National Hunt-bred yearlings.
The sale will begin at 11am each day and will end at around 8pm to allow all participants to return to their hotels before curfew.
