Catalogue released for Select Sale with Deep Impact lots headlining

The Japan Racing Horse Association has released the catalogue for its Select Sale on July 13-14. The catalogue was released soon after Japan lifted their state of emergency in 39 out of 47 prefectures, as restrictions in response to the coronavirus pandemic are gradually eased.

The first session consisting of 258 yearlings takes place on July 13, with 239 foals offered on July 14. The sale will be held at Northern Horse Park in the northernmost main island of Hokkaido.

Katsumi Yoshida’s Northern Farm is the largest consignor at the sale, offering 99 yearlings and 90 foals, with Teruya Yoshida’s Shadai Farm offering 66 yearlings and 43 foals.

The yearling session is headed by Deep Impact’s 13 lots, including a filly out of rags-to-riches Grade 1-winning mare Euro Charline, who was sold as a weanling for 800 guineas before accumulating over £1.5 million in prize-money. She later sold to Katsumi Yoshida for 750,000 guineas at the 2016 Tattersalls December Mare Sale.

Also offered by Deep Impact are colt half-siblings to dual French Classic-winning filly La Cressonniere and Coronation Stakes winner Qemah, and a colt out of Camprock, who was beaten a head in the Group 1 Prix Saint-Alary before also selling to Katsumi Yoshida for €850,000 at the 2016 Arqana Breeding Stock Sale.

Almond Eye’s sire Lord Kanaloa is represented by 36 lots and Harbinger, the 2010 King George VI and Queen Elizabeth Stakes winner and sire of Deirdre, has 25 lots throughout the two sessions.

US Triple Crown winner Justify is represented by a filly foal out of Not Now Carolyn, a winning daughter of Tapit out of US champion female sprinter Maryfield.

European-based sires are also represented with yearlings by Caravaggio, Dark Angel and No Nay Never. Golden Horn and Saxon Warrior both have foal offerings, as does Lope De Vega through a colt out of triple Oaks-placegetter Architecture.

The daughter of Zoffany was sold for 600,000 guineas at last year’s Tattersalls December Mare Sale in-foal to the leading sire.
