Bungle Inthejungle's price soars to €12,000 following breakthrough 2018
Son of Exceed And Excel is the sire of Group 3 winner Rumble Inthejungle
Bungle Inthejungle will enter his fifth season at Rathasker Stud boasting a covering fee that has been more than doubled to €12,000, the County Kildare operation announced on Tuesday.
The son of Exceed And Excel has stood the previous four seasons at €5,000, a fee that proved to be a bargain judged on the exploits of his first crop of racing age, who have provided the sire with 24 individual winners this season.
Those 24 are spearheaded by the impressive Molecomb winner Rumble Inthejungle, who was subsequently snapped up as a future stallion prospect by Cheveley Park Stud back in September, as well as Italian Listed winner Sopran Artemide.
“Bungle Inthejungle exceeded expectations with his first crop of runners 2018,” said Rathasker Stud’s Maurice Burns.
“When we purchased Bungle, he was said to be honest and tough, in Mick Channon’s words 'as brave as a lion', and this characteristic has been passed onto each of his progeny – they have a will to win.
“We have watched each of his runners very closely and he not only physically stamps his stock but he gives them soundness of mind also – that battling attitude that stallion masters hope year in year out their freshman sires can reproduce.
“For us, Bungle Inthejungle has been a revelation. The way he upgrades his mares is palpable and thus, we really look forward to the future as his quality of mares improves. We believe that in time he can become a real force in the stallion ranks.”
Elsewhere on the roster, Clodovil will stand the 2019 breeding season at €10,000, an increase of €2,500 from his 2018 fee.
The son of Danehill is the sire of 20 stakes winners, with his progeny headed by a pair of Group 1 winners as well as National Stud stallion Gregorian.
Juvenile Group 2 winner Anjaal, a son of Bahamian Bounty, will remain at a fee of €5,000 with his first runners due to hit the track in 2019.
Rathasker’s stallion fee announcement comes less than 24 hours after it was revealed that that their former stallion Coulsty will stand at Norman Court Stud for a fee of £4,000 in 2019.
Highclere stallion Cable Bay to remain at £6,500
Also on Tuesday, Highclere Stud announced that Cable Bay will stand the 2019 breeding season for a fee of £6,500.
The son of Invincible Spirit was at the forefront of Goffs UK this year, recording the highest price of all the British first season sire’s when selling a colt for £150,000 to Angus Gold of Shadwell.
Cable Bay also shuttled to Woodside Park in New Zealand for the southern hemisphere breeding season, where his fee stands at $13,200 (inc GST).
