Blue-blooded Voodoo Queen makes it third time lucky at Newmarket
Fillies out of top-class mares Cursory Glance and Special Duty on top
Three beautifully bred fillies came home in the Betfair Maiden Fillies' Stakes at Newmarket, headed by Irish Oaks and Ribblesdale Stakes entry Voodoo Queen.
The Merry Fox Stud homebred is by Frankel and is the third foal out of the fine Distorted Humor mare Cursory Glance, the winner of the Moyglare Stud Stakes and Albany Stakes for Roger Varian.
Cursory Glance is in turn out of a winning sister to Prix de Malleret scorer Time On and Fortune Stakes winner Posted in Time Control.
The daughter of Sadler's Wells sold to Charlie Gordon-Watson for 1,200,000gns at Book 1 of the Tattersalls October Yearling Sale in 2006 before winning once and placing twice for Luca Cumani.
Time Control is out of Musidora Stakes heroine Time Away, a Darshaan half-sister to Time Ahead and Moment Of Time, the dam of Australian Group 2 scorer Chief Ironside.
A length back in second was Juddmonte homebred Elegant Verse, a daughter of Galileo and 2010 dual 1,000 Guineas heroine Special Duty.
The John and Thady Gosden-trained filly is the eighth foal out of the daughter of Hennessy whose racing career also included wins in the Cheveley Park Stakes and Prix Robert Papin, while she was also a short neck in the Prix Morny.
Special Duty, who is out of a Distant View sister to multiple American Grade 1 winner Sightseek, has produced the Listed-placed Tapit filly South Bank.
Godolphin's homebred Dubawi filly Light Of Peace filled third place and is the third foal out of the Group-winning Kheleyf mare Majestic Queen, making her a sister to 2021 German Listed scorer Maria Amalia.
