Auctav will kick off its 2023 season by staging a sale of broodmares for French breeder ML Bloodstock on January 18.

The operation has enjoyed notable success over the years including owning and breeding Twinlight, the smart performer whose victories included the 2014 renewal of what is now known as the Grade 1 Paddy's Reward Club Chase at Leopardstown's Christmas meeting.

Statuaire flew the orange colours high in landing last year's Royal Bond Novice Hurdle for Willie Mullins, while he is the half-brother to the yard's Champion Hurdle prospect and recent Morgiana Hurdle winner State Man. ML Bloodstock also owned and bred last year's AQPS Grade 1 winner Guerrier Rose.

Auctav has collected 18 broodmares, including a handful with AQPS or Purebred Arabian pedigrees, to be sold from lunchtime on that date. They include winning Authorized mare Coming Alone, a daughter of the very smart chaser Laskaline, who is offered in foal to Robin Of Navan and her year-younger Grade 3-placed half-sister by Kapgarde, Gardiala, covered by Vadamos.

Preciously, the dam of Woodbine Grade 2 winner Crystal Cliffs, comes with a cover by Intello, while Network mare Dahlia D'Arthel, from a useful jumping family, is in foal to Choeur Du Nord.
