Arqana Breeze-Up Sale switched to Doncaster and will now be staged at later date
Original mid-May slot delayed, with sale to take place at Goffs UK on May 28
The Arqana Breeze-Up Sale is to be held at the Goffs UK complex in Doncaster at the end of May, rather than at its traditional home in Deauville in the middle of the month.
The breeze and the sale had been due to take place on May 13-14, but the new timetable is for breezes to take place at Doncaster on May 26 from midday, with lots going through the ring at Goffs UK on May 28 from 11am.
With more than 80 per cent of the juveniles catalogued being currently based in Ireland, the decision to switch venues and dates was taken following discussions with vendors. The aim is to better facilitate travel options given current restrictions, as they would have been required to quarantine on return to Ireland.
Arqana president Eric Hoyeau said: "First of all, we would like to acknowledge the flexibility and understanding of all our vendors. We were looking forward to a return of the breeze-up to Deauville, but in the current context, and after having looked at all the possible solutions, the organisation of the sale at Doncaster will be much simpler for a large majority of them.
“We would also like to thank Goffs, whose entire UK team has adapted to accommodate our sale.
"As with last year, we will do everything possible to welcome everyone in the best possible conditions. We will also continue to offer many opportunities for buyers to bid who could not make the trip. The entire Arqana team remains at the disposal of both buyers and vendors to answer any questions and to help with their organisation."
Telephone and online bidding will be available for a sale which, since 2018, can boast of having produced more Group 1 winners and as many Group winners than all the other European breeze-up sales combined.
The 2021 catalogue offers a selection of two-year-olds by top international stallions, including American Pharoah, Camelot, Dark Angel, Distorted Humor, Dubawi, Exceed And Excel, Invincible Spirit, Into Mischief, Kingman, Kitten’s Joy, Kodiac, Lope De Vega, Medaglia D’Oro, Mehmas, More Than Ready, Night Of Thunder, No Nay Never, Nyquist, Sea The Stars, Shamardal, Showcasing, Siyouni, Speighstown, War Front and Wootton Bassett.
