Aclaim and Advertise to continue stud careers at Martyn Meade's base
Exciting young sires were both trained to top-level success by Meade
Two of the National Stud's exciting young stallions in Classic-winning sire Aclaim and multiple Group 1 winner Advertise are set to relocate to Martyn Meade's base in Manton, Wiltshire.
Aclaim, who was trained by Meade to win the Challenge Stakes at three and the Prix de la Foret and Park Stakes at four, has got his second career off to an equally bright start courtesy of 1,000 Guineas heroine Cachet and the promising Listed-winning sprinter Royal Aclaim.
He was retired to the National Stud in 2018, with an opening fee of £12,500 and stood this year for £6,000. Among his other classy performers are Premio Dormello runner-up Jacinda plus Listed-placed runners Chelsea Gardens, Woman Of Ciprea and Beautiful Black.
Aclaim, who was bred by Dermot Farrington and Canning Downs, sold to Stephen Hillen from Swordlestown Stud for €130,000 at the Goffs Orby Sale.
He is out of the Danroad mare Aris, a close relation to Irish 1,000 Guineas and Moyglare Stud Stakes winner Again and a daughter of an unraced half-sister to Montjeu.
Joining him is Advertise, a son of Showcasing who won the Phoenix Stakes, Commonwealth Cup and Prix Maurice de Gheest for Meade in a stellar career that also included a win in the July Stakes and placings in the Dewhurst, July Cup and Coventry Stakes.
The Cheveley Park Stud-bred six-year-old retired to the National Stud for the 2020 breeding season at a fee of £25,000, one that has been unchanged in three seasons. His first crop of yearlings sell this year.
Advertise, a £60,000 purchase by Farrington from Jamie Railton at the Goffs UK Premier Yearling Sale in 2017, is the third foal out of the Pivotal mare Furbelow, a sister to American stakes winner Red Diadem and a close relation to the dam of Richmond Stakes winner Saayerr.
Meade said: “We would like to thank the team at the National Stud for their energy and commitment to Advertise and Aclaim since the start of their stallion careers.
"It has been an ambition for these two horses to return to Manton ever since they were trained here and we are now in a position to welcome them home to continue their time at stud."
Anna Kerr, CEO of the National Stud, added: “The National Stud is delighted to have launched the careers of two such exciting young stallions, it has been very rewarding for the whole team to see what a strong start both Aclaim and Advertise have made to their stud careers.
"They both have bright futures ahead of them and we wish them every success at Manton Park."
