A'Ali on the move to Newsells Park Stud after operation buys majority share
The son of Society Rock was a multiple Group-winning sprinter at two and three
Multiple Group winning sprinter A'Ali will stand at Newsells Park Stud for the 2022 breeding season after the operation bought a significant share in the Royal Ascot-winning son of Society Rock.
A'Ali had been due to stand at Robert and Catherine Dallas' Meadow Farm Stud in Wiltshire, but is on the move to Hertfordshire after Newsells Park manager Julian Dollar inspected the four-year-old at the National Stud during the December Breeding Stock Sales in Newmarket.
The colt won three of his six starts at two including the Norfolk Stakes, Prix Robert Papin and Flying Childers Stakes before adding two more Group successes to his name at three in the Sapphire and Stakes and Coral Charge. His sole start this term saw him finish a fine third in the Meydan Sprint before injury intervened.
Dollar said: “When Gary [Coffey, racing and nominations manager] and I saw A’Ali at the National Stud, we both commented on what an absolute belter of a horse he was. He really fulfils a niche for speed and precocity, which the commercial breeder is looking for.
“He’s absolutely gorgeous to look at, with a wonderful walk and a beautiful temperament. He’ll be very easy for breeders to use and should throw a lovely model, if they look anything like him.
"Newsells Park Stud have purchased a significant percentage of A’Ali, who was already owned by a passionate group of shareholders, [including his original owner Shaikh Duaij], all keen to give him great support, so we’re excited about this new partnership."
A'Ali will join a roster that includes leading sire Nathaniel, responsible for five top-flight winners that includes dual Arc heroine Enable and this season's Nassau Stakes winner Lady Bowthorpe, and Without Parole, a St James's Palace-winning son of Frankel who covered his first book of mares this year.
Dollar continued: “What also works for us is that A’Ali really fills a void left by the sale of Equiano last year and helps to balance our boutique stallion roster of Nathaniel and Without Parole.
"We now stand one of Europe’s most proven and successful middle-distance sires in Nathaniel, together with one of Frankel’s fastest sons at stud in Without Parole. Together with a lightning fast two-year-old in A’Ali, they offer breeders the full spectrum of class, stamina, speed and precocity and we welcome breeders through our doors to come and see them."
