'A typical Dubawi physical' - first foal for Darley's brilliant miler Modern Games
Darley has announced the first reported foal by Poule d'Essai des Poulains hero and dual Breeders' Cup winner Modern Games.
The colt foal was born at Kildangan Stud on Tuesday and is out of the Raven's Pass mare White Mountain, a half-sister to European champion miler Ribchester and close relation to Meydan Group 1 scorer Matterhorn.
Jimmy Hyland, Kildangan's stud director, said: "We are very pleased with the Modern Games colt foal out of White Mountain. He's a typical Dubawi physical – compact and deep girthed with plenty of strength and substance. His limbs are in the right place and overall he is a solid individual."
A half-brother to 1,000 Guineas winner Mawj, Modern Games was well supported during his first season, with his book including 50 stakes winners or producers, including Canadian Grade 1 winner La Pelosa and the dams of Journey and Tiger Tanaka.
He also covered 20 siblings to top-level winners, including sisters to Ghaiyyath, Emily Upjohn, Beauty Parlour, Ribchester, Jack Hobbs, Zambezi Sun, Cross Counter and Eldar Eldarov.
Modern Games stands his second season this year at an unchanged £30,000.
