2,000 Guineas winner Magna Grecia retired to Coolmore Stud
Three-year-old was another high achiever for sire Invincible Spirit
Magna Grecia, this year's 2,000 Guineas winner and the only colt by sire-of-sires Invincible Spirit to land Group 1s at both two and three, has been retired to Coolmore Stud for 2020.
Trained by Aidan O'Brien, Magna Grecia won on his debut at Naas and landed the Group 1 Vertem Futurity Trophy at Doncaster from the subsequent Group 1-winning milers Phoenix Of Spain and Circus Maximus.

In between those two wins, he was a neck second to subsequent French 2,000 Guineas winner Persian King in the Group 3 Autumn Stakes.
Magna Grecia returned to action this year in the 2,000 Guineas, scoring by two and a half lengths from Group 1 winners King Of Change, Ten Sovereigns, Advertise and Royal Marine, as well as Derby runner-up Madhmoon.
At 340,000gns, Magna Grecia is Invincible Spirit’s highest-priced colt foal. Invincible Spirit’s influence as a sire of sires continues to grow, with Kingman and Cable Bay ranking as exciting second-and first-crop sires in Europe, while I Am Invincible sired a record 28 stakes winners in Australia last season.
Magna Grecia’s dam Cabaret is a two-year-old Group winner, having won the Silver Flash Stakes, and a half-sister to a Group-winning juvenile.
Coolmore’s director of sales David O’Loughlin said: "Magna Grecia is a top-class prospect by the sire of Kingman. He’s got the pedigree and the good looks and he beat so many good horses in both the Vertem Futurity and the 2,000 Guineas."
A fee will be announced at a later date.
