King Of Change heads for stallion career at Derrinstown
Four-year-old won last year's QEII at Ascot on what was to prove his last start
King Of Change, who was last seen winning the 2019 Queen Elizabeth II Stakes at Ascot, has joined the roster at Derrinstown Stud to stand for an opening 2021 fee of €7,000.
Trained by Richard Hannon, the colt won a maiden at Nottingham before finishing a commendable second to Magna Grecia in the 2,000 Guineas.
He reappeared later in the year to land Sandown’s Listed Fortune Stakes, before at Ascot finishing ahead of a fine field, including Magna Grecia, Phoenix Of Spain, The Revenant, Mohaather and Benbatl, in what was to prove his swansong.
Bred under the Rabbah Bloodstock banner, King Of Change is by the Champion Stakes winner Farhh and is a half-brother to Celebration Mile scorer Century Dream, who was also behind him in the QEII.
Their dam, Salacia, is a winning half-sister to eight other winners, including the stakes-placed Sea Chariot, Submariner and Melicertes. They are out of the Group 3 Fille de l’Air winner Neptune’s Bride, herself a half-sister to the Group 2 International Stakes winner Sea Dart.
