Kedrah House and Whytemount off but Grange Stud back in - weather latest for the Irish Stallion Trail
Wintry weather has caused a few late changes to the schedule for the upcoming Irish Thoroughbred Marketing Irish Stallion Trail, although around 30 different venues around the country will still be throwing open their doors on Friday and Saturday.
Kedrah House Stud at Cahir, County Tipperary has had to withdraw. The home of stallions Well Chosen and Rich History, which was due to be open on Saturday, showed a video of the snow and black ice which has affected the area.
Whytemount Stud and Annshoon Stud, two leading operations in County Kilkenny, have also had to announce they are pulling out.
David Stack’s Coolagown Stud in County Cork is now closed for visitors on Friday but is expected to be part of proceedings during Saturday.
The four main farms under the Coolmore umbrella had all had their opening times put back a week until January 18, but it has now been decided that Grange Stud, the National Hunt stallion operation in County Cork, will also be open on both days this week.
Temperatures in most of Ireland are forecast to fall below freezing on Thursday night, warming up slightly back into single figures on Friday and Saturday.
