'It's an honour for Goffs to be chosen to sell Goliath’s dam' - Beeby announces big name for November Breeding Stock Sale
On the same morning it was confirmed in the German media that Goliath will contest the Group 1 Preis von Europa at Cologne later this month, with the Japan Cup as his end-of-season target, Goffs announced that the King George hero's dam Gouache will be offered for sale at the company's November Breeding Stock Sale.
The 12-year-old daughter of Shamardal is in foal to Baaeed and will be consigned by Millennium Stud at the sale, which is scheduled to take place on November 22 and 23.
Goffs group chief executive Henry Beeby said: “Goliath’s stunning victory in the Group 1 King George VI and Queen Elizabeth Qipco Stakes was one of the performances of the season and the world is his oyster in terms of what comes next.
"It's an honour for Goffs to be chosen to sell Goliath’s dam Gouache and we're very grateful to her owners for this vote of confidence in our service, which follows a record sale in 2023 when we sold the two highest-priced mares anywhere in the world."
As part of a draft from the Niarchos family at last year's Goffs November Sale, the Group 1 winners and half-sisters Alpha Centauri and Alpine Star were knocked down at €6 million each to MV Magnier.
Gouache has an excellent Schlenderhan pedigree; her dam Guantana is a Listed-winning Dynaformer half-sister to the Group 1 winners and sires Guignol and Guiliani, and they are out of the Group 1 Oaks d'Italia winner and Yorkshire Oaks and Preis der Diana-placed Guadalupe, who is a Monsun full-sister to Group 1 winner and Coolmore National Hunt sire Getaway.
By Adlerflug, Goliath is the second foal out of Gouache, who won the Listed Hoppegartener Stutenpreis for her owner-breeder Gestut Schlenderhan. Her first, Gamine, is a winning full-sister to Goliath.
Gouache has a three-year-old Cloth Of Stars filly named Galaxy who has been placed on both her starts this season for Sascha Smrczek and Stall Gattopardo, most recently at Dusseldorf last Sunday when she was third.
Schlenderhan have a two-year-old full-sister to Goliath from the final crop of Adlerflug. Named Go Flying, she is in training with Peter Schiergen, while her yearling Magna Grecia filly has also been retained and is named Grande Merci.
At last December's Arqana Breeding Stock Sale, Gouache was sold in foal to Blackbeard by Schlenderhan to Agrolexica International Trading for €200,000. She foaled a filly by the champion two-year-old son of No Nay Never in March.
Entries for the Goffs November Breeding Stock Sale close shortly.
