Group 1 star Marsha produces Galileo filly foal at Coolmore

Coolmore has announced the arrival of one of the most valuable prospects in the bloodstock world with sprinting champion Marsha delivering a filly foal by Galileo.

Marsha was bred by the Elite Racing Club out of its Listed-winning Marju mare Marlinka and was kept to race in its colours with Sir Mark Prescott.

She was to rise right through the ranks as a three-year-old, taking Listed events at Ayr and York before a glittering performance under Luke Morris to capture the Group 1 Prix de l'Abbaye at Chantilly in 2016.

Kept in training at four, she was to win the Palace House Stakes and finish third to Lady Aurelia in the King's Stand before reversing the placings in dramatic style when running down the US raider right on the line in the Nunthorpe Stakes.

Marsha could not quite defend her Abbaye title against Battaash and finished up her career in the Breeders' Cup Turf Sprint before a date with the sales beckoned.

Offered by Elite through Prescott's stable at Tattersalls that December, she broke the European record for a thoroughbred at auction when sold for 6,000,000gns to Coolmore's MV Magnier.

A cover by the sport's pre-eminent sire was an obvious fit and this is the first foal she has produced. While Elite could celebrate a huge payday in 2017, they still had much of the family and Marsha's half-brother Judicial rounded off another successful season by landing the Listed Golden Rose Stakes at Lingfield last November.
