Five Winds attracts late attention at Lingfield in varied catalogue for Tattersalls Online Sale
Updates will not come much later than that of Five Winds, who slipped another win onto her record at Lingfield on Tuesday ahead of a virtual appointment at this week's Tattersalls Online Sale.
The event was announced as the largest of its kind to take place on the platform in terms of catalogue size, with very few withdrawals presently from an initial intake of 196 to be offered through Wednesday and Thursday.
Five Winds dominated a 0-75 handicap over six furlongs for trainer Jack Jones under David Probert. The Adaay filly is part-owned by her breeder, Howell Jenkins, and is in as lot 33.
"She's in the online sale but I think we'll stick to that plan," Jones told Sky Sports Racing.
"Dave’s given her a peach of a ride. She’s a half-sister to The Waiting Game, who was a star for us last year, and her owner-breeders are Howell and Johanna, who is poorly in hospital so hopefully that gives her a boost, and Lee [Bearman] and Charlie [Flanagan] are involved too.
"She’s done her job, so I think we’ll stick to our plan and she’ll be able to win races for other people as well. Hopefully that’s put a bit of value on her and she was actually one of the first horses in with us when we had five or six back at the start."
The best known name in the catalogue is that of King Gold (50), last year's winner of the Prix Maurice de Gheest for Nicolas Caullery, who is up for grabs as a racing or stallion prospect and completed back-to-back wins in the Group 3 Prix de la Porte Maillot at Longchamp this summer.
Sam England's No Saint (197) is another who has been in form on the all-weather, winning his last two starts at Southwell and Chelmsford, while Gavin Cromwell's jumper Hypotenus (196) was the other late wildcard.
There is a real mix on offer, including a 16-strong partial dispersal from Alne Park Stud including mares in foal to a number of its resident stallions and foals by Ocovango and Dink.
Smart racing types include the Listed Burradon Stakes winner Cuban Tiger (29), while there are a plethora of foals, yearlings and stores as well as several breeding rights, to Ardad and Sergei Prokofiev.
Lockerbie (179), a New Approach half-sister to the prolific Hamish, is being offered by Fittocks Stud in foal to Cracksman, while Tweenhills has entered Sparkle Roll (191), the Group-placed Kingman mare who was covered by Kameko.
