From cold to red-hot in a jiffy - and Mohaather’s first crop should be better again this year

In this impatient era when instant gratification is the driving societal impulse, the demand for stallions to produce winners straight out of the blocks and in substantial numbers is ever greater and ever more detrimental, as judgments are passed harshly and prematurely by those who ought to know better.
Second-season sire Mohaather is a perfect example of this ludicrous situation, with the commentariat's vocabulary abuzz with words like disappointing and poor during the early part of last summer.
On July 11, Serving With Style moved her sire off the cold list when winning a Carlisle maiden on her debut, and just eight days later Shadwell's Sussex Stakes winner was a black-type sire when his son Yah Mo Be There won the Listed Rose Bowl Stakes at Newbury for Richard Spencer and Phil Cunningham.
