Kevin Doyle is accustomed to the buzz of a packed stadium, the anticipation of game day and the pressure of the big occasion. The Irish international striker, who helped his side qualify for the 2012 European Championships, only the second time in its history that the Republic of Ireland had made the tournament, and played in the Premier League for Reading and Wolves knows all about high stakes days.

Tuesday will be another one of those events in the Wexford man's sporting career, although not on the hallowed turf of the Aviva Stadium but in the amphitheatre that is the Goffs sales ring.

On the first day of the Goffs Land Rover Sale, Doyle sells, through his neighbours and friends, the leading consignors Peter Nolan and Katy Lyons, a gelding whose every step will be watched with bated breath and excited anticipation. Lot 93 is the Camelot half-brother to Altior, whose exploits include Grade 1 successes at four Cheltenham Festivals among his ten top-level triumphs and 21 career wins.
