The hill on which Haras de Grandcamp is perched ensures there is nearly always a breeze, yet somehow the design of the stallion yard offers protection from whichever direction it comes, while the welcome is always warm during the annual Normandy stallion parade, the Route des Etalons.
When I last pitched up at Eric Lhermite's front door, he was standing Lawman, Dream Ahead and Dabirsim among others, while the newcomer that year was Martinborough.
Since that visit in 2019, it's the winds of change which have been blowing through Grandcamp, which waved goodbye to the last of those venerable servants at the end of the 2022 covering season, as Lhermite focused all his attention on the other aspects of his breeding business.
