Noel Moran’s voice softens audibly at mention of the newest addition to an equine empire which already has an emphasis on youth.
Apple’s Jade, two of whose 11 Grade 1 wins came at this week’s Punchestown Festival, has just produced her first foal by Walk In the Park and she is taking her first steps at Moran and his wife Valerie’s Bective Stud in County Meath.
"Oh, she’s lovely," he reports. "If she’s half as good as her mother she’ll win six Grade 1s, but, as we all know, it doesn’t always work like that.
