While studying Business and Thoroughbred Management in the UK, she worked for several trainers and sales consignors. This was followed by a move to the United States, where she worked in a pre-training yard, breaking horses for Claiborne Farm and Pin Oak Stud.

After four years in the US, Miriam travelled to Australia, where she spent a year working in racing and travelling. On her return to Ireland she took up the position of travelling head person for Frances Crowley and later Tom Taffe, before going back to study Business Management.

Mary did a stint in residential property sales in the Cotswolds before finding the pull back to racing too strong to resist and joining the Racing Post Bloodstock commercial team in 2022.

Mary splits her time between home in the Cotswolds, the office in London, and Shropshire, where she is actively involved in her family's farming operation. She was appointed a non-executive committee member at the Jockey Club-owned Kempton in 2024.
