Patrick Diamond, a familiar face in the industry who has spent the last six years in nominations and bloodstock management at the Irish National Stud, is taking up a new role as a sales executive with The Castlebridge Consignment in Newmarket.
"I'm thrilled to be joining the Castlebridge team and want to thank Andrew Mead and Bill Dwan for the opportunity," said Diamond. "Castlebridge have established themselves as Europe’s leading sales consignor, which is tremendously exciting."
Diamond grew up with a strong family link to the breeding industry as his father, Peter, was stud groom to Lady Tavistock at Bloomsbury Stud. He cut his teeth in the industry with positions at Weatherbys, Paul and Sara Thorman's Trickledown Stud, and Arrowfield Stud in Australia.

In 2014 he graduated from the Irish National Stud course before he returned to the County Kildare farm to take up his role in nominations and bloodstock management, where he was responsible for trading nominations, management of bloodstock and the sourcing of new stallion prospects, including Classic winner Phoenix Of Spain.
The Castlebridge Consignment, Europe's biggest thoroughbred consignor, was founded in 2002 by Newmarket-based bloodstock agents Andrew Mead and Marion Goodbody, who joined forces with Bill and Tara Dwan of County Meath.
Among the major talents sold by the operation are names such as Ghaiyyath, a €1.1 million foal purchase by John Ferguson, Charming Thought and Night Of Thunder.

Castlebridge have also handled a number of major dispersals, including those of Ballymacoll Stud, Wildenstein Stables and Paul Makin's Paulyn Dispersal at the Goffs November Sale in 2013, meaning the outfit was responsible for selling the €6m Chicquita, who remains the most expensive thoroughbred sold at public auction in Ireland.
"It's great to have Patrick come on board," said Castlebridge's Bill Dwan. "We recognise that the bloodstock world is constantly evolving and in addition to his existing experience, we value having a new younger member of the team to connect with the next generation of those coming into the bloodstock industry."
Cathal Beale, manager of the Irish National Stud, added: "Patrick has been a great asset to us over the past years and I'm sure he will take all of his enthusiasm and experience with him to his new role at Castlebridge. We wish him well."
