Grand National pair Don Poli and Outlander to be offered at Aintree Sale

Gigginstown House Stud – which won the Randox Health Grand National with Rule The World in 2016 and Tiger Roll last year – will offer Don Poli and Outlander at this year's Aintree Sale, which takes place after racing on Thursday, April 4, on the first day of the three-day festival.

Both are guaranteed a run in the £1 million Aintree feature, with Outlander allotted 11st and his Gordon Elliott stablemate Don Poli on 10st 13lb.

Eddie O'Leary of Gigginstown House Stud said: "Don Poli and Outlander represent outstanding opportunities for new owners to purchase live chances in the Randox Health Grand National and also potential top-class hunter chasers for the future. Outlander also performs on better ground, making him an ideal prospect for racing in America."

Purchasers already registered with the BHA will be able to change the ownership and colours in time for the Grand National two days later.

Elliott once again saddles Tiger Roll for this year's race, for which he is the short-priced favourite, while Gigginstown have seven other runners guaranteed a run as well as Valseur Lido and General Principle, who could sneak in at the bottom of the weights.

Don Poli has won eight races and three have been at Grade 1 level including the RSA Chase at the Cheltenham Festival and the 2015 Lexus Chase at Leopardstown, and boasts course form at Aintree having finished second to Cue Card in the Bowl.

Outlander's ten wins include three Grade 1 events. He led home Don Poli for a Gigginstown one-two in the 2016 Lexus Chase and the following year landed the Champion Chase at Down Royal.

Gigginstown is a regular supporter of Goffs UK horses-in-training sales and holds its annual dispersal at the September Sale every year.

Three Grade 1 winners have emerged from the Aintree Sale, which began in 2016, including the Gigginstown-owned Samcro – who topped the inaugural sale when selling for £335,000 – and this year's RSA winner Topofthegame.
