Breeders gain access to Jeremy genes as son Success Days joins Kilbarry Lodge

Success Days, a four-time Group race-winning son of Jeremy, has been added to the Kilbarry Lodge Stud stallion roster for the 2020 breeding season.

The deal was brokered by Cathy Grassick of Brian Grassick Bloodstock, acting on behalf of stud master Con O'Keeffe, and Rupert Pritchard Gordon Bloodstock, representing the horse's owner-breeder Robert Ng.

O'Keeffe said: "I'm delighted to have the opportunity to stand Success Days, the only son of Jeremy at stud. He's a lovely correct horse with great bone and a terrific walk. Jeremy's strike-rate is phenomenal, especially when crossed with the Sadler's Wells line.

"My thanks to Cathy Grassick of Brian Grassick Bloodstock who brokered the deal on behalf of myself and his owner Robert Ng."

Bred by Ng and Dermot Farrington, the seven-year-old won six times for trainer Ken Condon, with his biggest success coming aged five in the Group 2 Sky Bet York Stakes, in which he showed a fantastic attitude to get the better of Mondialiste.

At his best with give underfoot, he also won a trio of Group 3s, namely the Derrinstown Stud Derby Trial and Ballysax Stakes at three, and the Royal Whip Stakes at four, in which he defeated Fascinating Rock.

His trainer said: "Success Days is a horse with a great appetite for his work and his racing. He possesses a great constitution and an excellent temperament that allowed him to race at a high level for six seasons. I'm looking forward to training his progeny in the not too distant future."

Success Days provides breeders with access to the genes of a sire who, from limited numbers, has made a sizeable impression, particularly in the National Hunt sphere, where the much-missed Jeremy left behind talents such as Our Conor, Jerrysback, Who Dares Wins, Reserve Tank and Birchdale.

He is also the sire of two-time Group 2 winner Kool Kompany on the Flat.

Success Days is the third foal out of Malaica, a daughter of Roi Gironde who was runner-up in the Group 3 Prix Miesque and third behind Silca's Gift in the 2003 Albany Stakes at Royal Ascot. In turn, Malaica is out of the Highest Honor mare Carmel, a sister to Group 1 winner Execute as well as the Group 2-winning sire Tot Ou Tard.

Further back this is the family of Girl Friend, Best Girl and the stallion Comrade In Arms.

Joining Success Days on the Kilbarry Lodge Stud roster are the up-and-coming Diamond Boy, who covered 233 mares this year, young gun Pillar Coral, a Zamindar half-brother to Grade 1 sires Coastal Path, Martaline and Reefscape, and fellow newcomer Joshua Tree, a Group 1-winning son of Montjeu.
