Both Arqana and Tattersalls Ascot have made minor tweaks to the scheduling of their yearling sales early next month in order to maximise the opportunity for buyers and vendors during a busy period.

The Ascot Yearling Sale, now being staged at Park Paddocks in Newmarket, has been moved one day forward and is a single session on Monday, September 7.

Arqana's Select Sale will now run between September 9 and 11, which is a day later than had been anticipated.

The showcase Normandy auction was recently brought forward by more than a fortnight in order to allay concerns that international visitors would be caught up in Covid-19 quarantine restrictions and 14-day self-isolation regimes in the busy period where sales are being held in France, Ireland and Britain. Had this year been progressing normally, it would have concluded earlier this week.

Arqana CEO Eric Hoyeau said: "With so many constraints coming into play and such a restricted time period to stage all American and European yearling sales, it is virtually impossible to please everyone and sales clashes are almost inevitable.

"However, Arqana and Tattersalls have agreed that cooperation is paramount amid the current crisis and that we should do our utmost to make attendance at our sales compatible for vendors and buyers alike."

The Goffs UK Premier Yearling Sale is set to kick off the series between September 1 and 2, and it is hoped that in the subsequent few days buyers will have the opportunity to inspect the offerings at Ascot before Arqana, even if timings might make it difficult for interested parties to attend both physical auctions in person.

Goffs Orby is slated for the end of September, with the Tattersalls October Yearling Sale beginning a week afterwards.
