First southern hemisphere winner for Hello Youmzain as Hello Romeo strikes at Bendigo
Cambridge Stud shuttler Hello Youmzain scored his first southern hemisphere winner on Wednesday with Hello Romeo breaking his maiden at his second career start at Bendigo.
The Ben, Will and JD Hayes trained colt jumped well for a lead-all-the-way victory defeating his stablemate, daughter of Widden Stud first-season sire Dirty Work, Mrs Iglesia by a length and three-quarters with the Lloyd Kennewell and Lucy Yeomans-trained daughter of Rosemont Stud first-season sire Hanseatic, Tiz Worthy, a further three-quarters of a length away in third.
Bred by Jomara Bloodstock, Hello Romeo was a $150,000 Karaka National Yearling Sale buy for his trainers from the Hallmark Stud draft. He is the first foal to race out of Julieta who, although not a winner herself, is a half-sister to multiple Group 1-winner Humidor.
Hello Youmzain has made a fine start with his first two-year-olds in the northern hemisphere, the headline acts being Prix des Chenes scorer and Prix Jean-Luc Lagardere third Misunderstood and fellow Group 3 scorer Electrolyte, a winner of the Prix Eclipse and second in the Coventry Stakes.
The Haras d'Etreham resident is also responsible for Cornwallis Stakes third Kullazain and the Listed-placed Afentiko.
The eight-year-old stands for NZ$30,000 plus GST at Cambridge Stud in New Zealand.
