Grand National weekend is basically a professional hazard for those of us in the racing media.
The evening before the world’s most famous steeplechase was spent at a wedding of my wife’s friends, and when other guests heard what I do for a living they practically formed an orderly queue to ask what would win the big race. This could only end one way. Embarrassingly for me. Expensively for them.
